Windows 8 internet problem

Hi guys... I am having a strange problem with windows 8 based machines. In that the internet connection is “Your Internet connection speed is slow or inconsistent”. I am experiencing problems watching youtube or doing online tests, the errors seem to point the internet connection dropping out. These are brand new HP compaq machines with windows 8.
I have older HP machines with windows xp on them connected to the same router.. which has no problems with either youtube or doing online tests. So that should rule out the router or the actual internet connection. For example I can have 2 machines one with win 8 or the other with win xp on both watching the same youtube clip/channel.. the win xp machine has no problems but on the win 8 machine after about 5 or 10 secs of the clip playing it stops and I get a error message:
Video player error message

Usually an error message on the video could mean one of the following things:
•A video is in the process of being uploaded.
•Your Internet connection speed is slow or inconsistent.
•A video is being removed, or having other issues.

These windows 8 based machines have all latest updates and the latest versions of flash installed. I have tried the both the original and most update network driver for the machine but that had no effect. I have tried disabling windows firewall and using the troubleshooter in win 8 also to no avail.
I have tried TCP/IP stack repair also. These machines are connected via LAN cable.
What else can I try to resolve this problem? Are there are programs that i can use to test the internet connect on this machines or find out the cause of this problem?

Thanks in advance guys.
