Sharing on windows 8

Hello forum.

A client of mine decided to purchase a win 8 machine and had me set it up on his office workgroup. Easy enough, right? Well, everything was fine until I attempted to share a printer that is connected locally the the win 8 machine.

I have enabled printer/file sharing, I disabled password protection, turned off the windows firewall, etc.

When I go to "add printer," (on the xp PC) It finds the printer, but upon attempting to connect to the printer I'm presented with a log on to the win 8 PC. The win 8 pc has NO passwords assigned to the one and only user account, so what the heck is it looking for? I also tried to add the printer by \\win 8 pc\printer, error, "can't connect"

I then gave the user account on the win 8 pc a password and attempted to use those credentials...no luck either. I tried \\win 8 user account\user

Is there a bug or something with win 8?

Any help is appreciated!!

Stivey
