An unusual problem in Windows 8.
I have downloaded a .dot template to print a calendar from MS Outlook. The template works fine by double clicking the icon but the .dot icon on the desktop is a blank square with the name of the template below it.
The original downloaded file in a folder shows the icon with the MS Word picture but as soon as I move it to the desktop the icon goes blank.
I have ensured that the file is associated with MS Word (2003) and the icon shows with the picture in the file associations program.
I have also tried deleting the icon cache and rebooting but all stays the same with a blank icon.
Any suggestions?
