So, I have the first gen HP envy 14 laptop, and
- when I was running stock windows (win 7 home premium x64), every once in a while, when I put the computer to sleep, it would show a black screen and just sit there.
- a year or more later, when I installed the windows 8 preview (on a logical partition, not primary) and ran dual boot, I never had any issue with sleep mode on a windows 8 boot (or very rarely. I can't recall it ever happening)
- a few months later, my hard drive died (unrelated) and I just run 64-bit windows 8 in a single boot setup. Now when I put the computer to sleep, very often, the laptop will just restart. Sometimes (maybe ever time, idk) I get a message saying windows recovered from an error. This happens far more often than the black screen problem I had on windows 7.
Before I installed Windows 8 preview, I assumed it was a problem with the laptop itself, but since I never experienced it on win 8 preview, I'm wondering what the problem is and how I might fix it. It wasn't too bad before but it's happening way too frequently with my new win8 setup.
Any advice? Might it have something to do with the OS being installed on primary vs. logical partition?
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestion.
