cd rom and dvd rom drivers

I just installed windows 8 pro clean install on my dell desktop, in device manager both the cd and dvd rom are showing up with explanation marks on them, I tried updating drivers, said that the ones I had were the latest, yet they will not work. I tried using convertxtodvd and neither one shows up. under the burning tab. any suggestions?
