Solved: Windows Updates Won't Start

Hi, I'm trying to use the Windows Remote Desktop Connection and it won't connect. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I'm missing some Windows updates since I have that set on "manual" updating, and a little flag popped up when I restarted my computer saying my Windows Group wasn't up to date. I'm trying to get the Windows updates to run but it keeps on telling me assorted error messages no matter what I try (I've used the CMD window, the control panel, and the windows settings screen)- one of these errors is that my access is denied because I'm not an administrator (which I am and I am logged in with my admin account).
Any suggestions as to what to try next?

p.s. I've got the "background intelligence transfer" as running and "windows update" running in the admin tools
