Loss of Kernel Power - Event ID 41 Task 63
This was a problem that was widely reported on W7 systems, especially Laptops, and was the subject of a number of Threads on TSG. I am now starting to see this issue on W8.1 systems on both Laptops and PC's.
Researching other Windows Forums indicates that there are an increasing number of reports of this problem on W8.1 systems.
I raised a Log with a well-known PC manufacturer (who will remain unnamed) as the problem seemed particularly prevalent on their machines, and was given the most helpful advice to - ".... reset to factory settings ....". Hmmmm.... thanks for that.. .... a talking parrot could have given that advice.
The "Loss of Kernel Power" results in a complete freeze of the machine. The "solution" is to power-OFF, let the machine rest for a few minutes and then power-ON. This can create real difficulties in a business environment where a machine is being used to perform a business-critical procedure.
My assumption is that this issue is not related to hardware but is a bug within Windows - which has been there since at least W7. Do any Forum Members know if something is being done to fix this problem and whether there is a fix..?
