HP Envy DV7 headphones not working

2.24GHz 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor
12GB DDR3 SDRAM
Intel HD graphics 4000
1TB 5400RPM hard drive
windows 8.1

HEADPHONES NOT WORKING PLEASE HELP!!
i tried everything
1. uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
2. tried using old versions of drivers
3. removed battery, hold power for 30 secs, go into BIOS and chose default settings. then reinstalled driver
4. refreshed computer
5. re-install windows

for now im using a usb headphone jack, but it can only go up to 16 bit.
