Stuck on inital loading screen, help!

Sorry I'm not sure if this is the right category for this, but I just need some help. I've got a 6 or so month old Toshiba Satellite C50D-A-13G laptop on Windows 8, which had been working perfectly up until yesterday when I turned it on, and for 10 minutes it was stuck on the: 'Toshiba, Leading Innovation' screen with the little loading circle thing going round normally at first, but gradually it would stop and start again, until eventually it went to the 'POWER_DRIVE_STATE_FAILURE' where it said it was collecting data to help it repair itself, but then it restarted and did exactly the same thing again. It either does this or it says 'Preparing Automatic Repair' where it loads for a few seconds and then for a fraction of a second looks normal with a pop up which I assume is normal for automatic repair, but then goes on to a black screen, where I can move the cursor but nothing else. I've tried taking the battery out with the laptop connected to the power cable, and then taking the power cable out and holding down the power button for 1-2 minutes,as has been suggested on other websites, but to no avail. I'd just like to know if there was any sure way of fixing this or if I just need to take it in and get it looked at.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
