One minute I was watching then videos on youtube , then went onto facebook etc , then played some music in itunes and noticed that they were really quiet , so I opened up my music software to test if the sound was globally quiet and the headphones are almost at full ( which is normally quite loud ) and im straining to hear anything. I switched to a different set of headphones....still quiet.
I rebooted........still quiet
I turned on my monitors.........still quiet
I went to control panel........checked my audio interface settings and everything is up at 100%
I've been having weird sound problems for months now.
I'd be watching a youtube video and the sound would turn off , or i'd be listening to itunes and surfing but if i make a certain movement scrolling facebook or something , the sound immediately disappears on tunes.
It doesn't seem to happen as much when i use my music software , although it will randomly distort sometimes , and occasionally go silent , but i switch to a different asio driver , then switch back to the asio driver I was using and its fine again.
I tried updating the drivers but apparently Im using the most recent there is.
My system is an asus 2.8ghz desktop running windows 8 64bit with 4gb ram
My audio interface is an m-audio fast-track pro which has been discontinued by m-audio and taken over by avid ( makers of pro tools )
Please help. This has been bugging me for months , but the volume drop is a new escalation of the problem.
