I started my love affair with MS Windows way back with an Apple IIC laptop, a 5 1/4" floppy disc to boot and operate from and I think the version was 3.0 or 2.9? And that romance started back in 1973 thereabouts - I think! Some forty plus years!
Fast Forward to now with my iPhone5, iPad3, new HP Pavillion23 Touch Screen and Win 8.1..................
And you know what? I find Win 8 damn difficult to manage!
I'm a born fiddler with all this you-beaut stuff (shades from being an airline pilot maybe?) and whilst I have found that the old adage of "If it ain't broke - don't fix it" to be very, very true, think I am correct in saying that everything works great for most whatever you want to on a daily basis, if nothing breaks metaphorically speaking.
The initial setup of the HP and Win 8 is an absolute dream but wow, the whole concept of Windows 8 has really bought to me to my knees! I mean once I start messing about with Homegroups, Sharing my wife's new HP Pavilion Laptop, Bluetooth, WiFi, shared Passwords and similar "stuff like that" the quicksand just keeps getting deeper and deeper and I even now find it difficult putting my gripe into words with you guys!
I won't rabbit on and on but, say as an example, of a complete Newbie thrown in the deep end of the pool with Win 8 on an old/new PC, surely then he or she must be gasping for breath pretty quickly!
What am I trying to say? Dunno, but am I completely off track here and just showing signs of an ageing brain, but I would go back to Win 7, XP, even old Vista - and that is the pits - as I could, and did, master those "old versions in a few days, and God Forbid, even help out with advice on the forums! No more! "
This is nothing like I wanted to say really, anybody kind of get the gist of the above? Please .................?
