Long story short, I am running Win 7 Ultimate on my notebook, and running it quite well, thank you. :) 2 gigs of memory.
I know about the app minimum of 1024x768 on Win 8. The notebook is already capable of changing resolutions to that from the native x600. From my browsing, I understand that that's a compromise and that Win 8 apps don't look so good on a netbook.
I'm more interested, though, in knowing if anyone who has tried Win 8 on a notebook has any comments about how zippy it is in the non-Metro world. Win 8 is supposedly lighter weight than Win 7; does it run business apps or browsers or redeye removal utilities or whatever faster than Win 7? $40 faster? :)
I'm guessing it's probably not worth it, but after the initial shock, I'm learning to like Win 8 quite a bit on my desktop. And the notebook does what it's supposed to do quite well for the most part, gives me 10 hours of juice with a second battery and weighs a third of what I was toting around before even with the second battery pack. Just wondering if 8 is faster enough to make a difference.
Thanks for any comments.
