win 8 partition

I have just bought the Windows 8 pro software and was just wondering if It can be installed on a partition on my Windows 7 laptop. Not sure if it is the upgrade edition or the full version.It has the following information on the Microsoft sticker: BTS--8918066-MSIN Win 8 pro 32/64 Bit ENG INTL VUP DVD
