This may not be a Windows 8 problem, but it seems to have begun after the installation.
I bought a 1TB USB3.0 connection HD to move files to and save them there. However the very files that I want to move refuse to transfer. I get an error message that tells me that they cannot be found and that they are not recognized. I can click on a file within the folder and play the song or look at the photo, they are there but the computer cannot seem to see them to move them.
I also notice that the Desktop Libraries (Documents, Music, Pictures etc) are gone and that if I click on one I get an error message (see the attached screen shot).
I'm lead to believe that the reason for being unable to move the files from one drive to another is that the location identity has changed. I'm not sure how to explain that but apparently while they are on my drives C and K and I want to copy them to the USB drive L, the computer insists that it cannot locate the folder. It does not seem to have a problem finding the folders/files to just open them however.
