Windows 8 slow boot on SSD

I recently purchased my laptop (late December). Upon getting it, the system booted fairly quickly at around 20 seconds with an SSD and an HDD. Afterwards I did a fresh format to get rid of bloatware. The good boot time remained. A few weeks ago I did a soft reset because of missing icons on the metro screen due to copying Windows 7 fonts from my previous PC (which affected the new fonts in Windows 8). I don't recall the boot time as it hadn't become a problem yet.

In the last few days, it seems to take a bit more than 2 minutes to get through the Windows booting screen (~1 minute spent on the logo and spinning dots and another minute on a blank black screen). Today I tried updating the BIOS to the most recent firmware, but this didn't change anything to the boot time.

Model: Toshiba PSPLZC-01J007 Qosmio X870-01J
Processor: i7-3630QM
Hard Disk Drives: 1256GB (256GB SSD mS-ATA + 1TB 5400 RPM Serial-ATA)
Memory: 16 GB

Any help on restoring the faster booting time is really appreciated.

Please let me know if there is any information you need!
