"save as option freezes computer

Hello,

I recently got a new Toshiba laptop with Windows 8. When I tried to save a picture or file using save as, the program freezes and I get an alert that save as is not responding. I then can't close that except for ending the program through task manager. Any ideas on what I can do for this? Thanks!
