I recently installed Win 8.1 pro and there is no sound. Before I installed Win 8.1, I had Win 7 Home Premium and the sound worked perfectly fine. At the bottom of the screen there is a red cross on the speaker and when go there, it goes to the troubleshooter. Also if I hover the cursor over the speaker with the cross, it says Audio Service is not running. I then downloaded Realtek HD audio driver. When I install it, files in "C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\" appear a few seconds before the installation is finished. After the installation has finished, there are no files there. I tried to install it many times and I restarted it many times but I get the same result. I also tried it in Safe Mode but same results. I also installed that nVidia driver which also has sound stuff. But still no sound. Please very much help me..... I really feel very sad without sound :(
