Help, upgrading, email question, thanks

Some time in the next 60 days, (or shortly after the new year), I have to switch 2 computer systems over to the same operating system. We will be going from XP pro, to windows 7 or 8.

One system is used by someone that is pretty much up on computer stuff except for this new software. The other is a complete 1d10t error user.. In other words, an IDIOT and has to be walked thru everything. This persons main usage of the computer is thru emails, and saving pictures and such. This person has 24 gigs of pictures and a lot of saved email messages in outlook express.

My sis has a windows 7 machine here, that I have been accessing and playing with. I discovered today that there is no pop3 mail client program like Outlook express.

Upon reading things on the internet, I find Microsoft is now offering a program called OUTLOOK. And that is what I need some help with.. Is it for both windows 7 and 8 or just 8? Can I configure its settings to go get mail from 3 difference sources? I.E. One email box from yahoo, one from gmail and another from hot mail?

I noticed in one thread on another site, that they said the IDEA o identities was stupid as each person could have their own email box.. well I run 5 email boxes., 2 for my business, and 3 for me, and using the identities function was great!

so, that's what it boils down to.. I have to be able to use pop 3 mails at both locations on both computers.. Any help/ideas welcomed. Thanks.
