Slow laptop after being repaired

Hi people from TSG,
I am by no means good with computer technology, which is why I liked this quote: ''There's no such thing as a stupid question, but they're the easiest to answer.''
So about a year ago I bought a laptop from the Lenovo webshop and it has been running well. However after some time my laptop got some physical damage and thus I sent it back for repair since it was still under warranty. (This was several months ago, I should have probably delved deeper into the problems earlier)
When I got my laptop back it was very slow since it had also been reset, but of course I had to let it install windows updates first. After a lot of updates it has gotten better, but not to the state it was when I first bought it. I have tried resetting all software again, but still no improvements.
Is it possible something went wrong with my hardware when my laptop was being repaired? Am I missing crucial windows updates? Does it have to do with windows 8.1?
My laptop runs games like it did before, however it can't handle my browser and a game being run at the same time like it did.
