I have an undeletable folder on my computer. In fact, I can't even open it or view it's properties. When I right click it I just get the menu in the screen shot below. I have tried to delete the folder that the undeletable folder is in but I receive this message: 'The source filename(s) are longer than is supported by the file system.'.
I have tried to view the shortened file name in command prompt (elevated) using the 'dir /x' command, in order to rename the folder to something shorter. However it only displays the full folder name.
I have set it's parent folder to not 'read only' (including sub-folders and files), and in properties all the permissions seem to be in order (although I am no expert when it comes to this).
When viewing the properties of it's parent folder, it displays that there is 0 folders and 0 bytes inside.
The folder can also not be moved to another drive.
The folder was created by Valve's Steam client. It was supposed to be a back-up of my game library, but I think it either f'd up, or I aborted—or a combination of the two; I honestly can't remember, as it was some time ago.
The undeletable folder itself is not really causing any harm, it is more of just an annoyance. However it has become almost like a murder mystery, and I am determined to get to the bottom of it. I would also like to know in case I run into the issue again in the future.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
