Basic Specs: HP Pavillion 11 Touchsmart
AMD A6-5200
AMD Radeon HD8400
Ralink RT3290 WiFi Adapter
(Unknown Sound Card, Presumed integrated)
Windows 8.1
I was having some major performance issues, after my anti-virus (Trend-Micro Titanium) and realised it was my unsubscribed (useless) old antivirus hogging performance. I also found that I could not delete it due to the requirement of "special permissions" (which could not be assigned to an administrator), could not rename its root folder due to it being "open" and could not disable the program with its various processes in task manager, nor could I remove it from my startup folder. In a move of desperation, I rebooted my computer in safe mode and happily deleted any traces of the program from my Program Files and Program Data. So far so good.
Upon returning to my regular reboot, I found that I could not access any networks, windows mentioned it could not reach my network card. Couldn't contact a sound card either. When I opened up the "System" tab of command prompt, it did not list any CPU or RAM (despite the fact that it is obviously using them). I also cannot restart any of the Services that were halted by safemode, even when using command prompt ("either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it").
So far I've tried: rebooting my computer in "safe mode with network features" - no luck
Running the troubleshooters - yes, I got that desperate.
Any help would be appreciated, I have a funny feeling that my drivers may have gone missing (despite device manager telling me that all hardware (and their respective drivers) are working normally). Preferably, I'd like to have this resolved without having to completely restore my copy of windows.
