I'm a tech who does PC 101 type service. There are times when I need to reinstall an OS. So I created a Universal Microsoft Windows Installation DVD / USB for Vista and Win 7 in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.
This is for people who don't have a recovery DVD and you have to replace their HD. So all I need is windows and use the customers legal key and now I can reinstall the OS.
But I can't find Windows 8 or 8.1 to do the same thing. I called Microsoft last week and talked to an American (anybody I've talked to since I can barley understand) who knew exactly what I needed but he said he was out of them.
He told me that they sold these copies of Windows for $15.00 a piece and all I needed was two of them (one 32 bit and other 64 bit) because the key would unlock what ever version I needed. He told me to check back with him in a week to see if new copies arrived but now I can't find him and nobody knows what I'm talking about when I call back.
If the PC makers would put the recovery DVD in with the new PC this wouldn't be a problem. And sometimes you can't get to the recovery partition on the HD. And the people I do work for tell ya to bring your own recovery DVD's but don't tell ya how to get them.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
