Solved: Brand new laptop, Windows 8.1, can't download Firefox.

Hi. :) So, I just purchased a brand new HP laptop with Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11 already installed. I just want to download and use Firefox as my default browser, but so far I'm having no luck.

First of all, IE 11 won't even display Mozilla's web page properly. It only shows a stripped down, text-only version that is of no use to me at all. (This is also a problem with my Outlook email, and probably a few other sites.) I don't know if this is because the computer is brand new and I need to install certain software or change certain settings to fix it or not. I can click on some of the text, but it doesn't take me anywhere. It says Internet Explorer cannot display the web page. (And by the way, other computers in the house are working just fine on the internet, so it's not the network connection.)

So then I downloaded a Firefox installation file on a different computer, and used a flash drive to transfer it onto my new laptop. I was able to open the file, but every time I tried to install Firefox (either Metro or the latest standard version) I got an error message saying, "Your download was interrupted. Please click the OK button to continue." So I did, and it would open up IE and take me to some non-functional, text-only Mozilla page again. I'm at a loss.

If you could help me get Firefox working on my new laptop, that would be amazing. Thanks for your time!
