Solved: No Caps Lock Notification

I'm actually posting this because I solved the problem and want to put the solution out there for other people.

my 8.1 acer aspire has no caps lock light. Some keyboards will let you set a caps lock notification if you go into the control panel and click on "keyboard", then "keyboard settings." But there is no option on my keyboard settings to toggle a caps lock notification. If you go into the control panel, click on "ease of access center" then click on "make the keyboard easier to use", you also have the option of clicking a box which will play a tone when the caps lock is on, but my speakers are never on. There's also regedit option which you can find by googling, but 8.1 makes everything such a hassle that I couldn't summon the energy to go the registry.

There is a program called "Caps-Lock Notifier" that will set up a visual display in the system tray, but it's at minimum adware and at worst malware. Chrome won't download it.

But I found another free and simple program that will do the job without ad- or nag-ware. It's called "Tray Status" and it's by binary fortress. You can find it on their website: http://www.binaryfortress.com/traystatus/
