Hope this is in the correct section of the forum as I am a new member. I got a wild hair to try and install Ubuntu on my Gateway NE51B16u laptop, which has Windows 8.1 Installed on it. So, I downloaded it to a flash drive. I then went into my laptops settings and changed it to boot from USB. Since then the laptop had shown nothing but a blank screen. When it turns on there is a power light that goes on and I can hear a fan and that's it. I have done countless google searches and need help. I tried taking out the battery, attaching to external monitor. And also holding fn while restarting. Nothing has worked for me an any help or advice anyone may have would be greatly appreciated.
