Pointer does now want to work!

Hello all. I have a windows 8.1 64 bit Tosheba Satellite C55 Laptop.

I used a mouse on my laptop for my uncle to use it. Well when I took the mouse off it would not let me use the mouse pad, or it did for a little bit but then no longer worked.

How do I fix this issue.
