Not able to run/install software

Hello;

Not sure if this is the right area, but I'll explain the problem that I'm assuming in linked to my Microsoft Windows 8 System. When I first started by computer I didn't set up any administrative passwords or accounts since the computer is shared by my family members. However, when I go to download/install any files from the internet - files with a .exe extension - it will download the file and then give me the message:

You may not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run. You may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the current user.

Below this is the option to choose current user (HOMEPC\rlbaxter) or run the program as the following user with a box for user name and password. In the user name box the word Administrator is present. I never set up a user name or password when I first started using my computer so I can't enter anything into either box.

When I choose the option for current user the boxes for user name and password become unavailable, but after clicking ok I get an error message saying This installer require admin access, try again.

Any ideas on what I can do to correct this without undoing all the files and settings I have on my computer. Thanks.
