Migrating to a new system with SSD

I am planning a new system build (my fourth) around an ASUS Z97 Pro motherboard with Intel i7 CPU. This new system will have a 240 GB SSD as the C: drive. This is the first time that I have ever used an SSD; it is also the first time that my new system drive will have a smaller capacity than my previous system drive. There will also be a 1 TB Western Digital Blue HDD. I plan to run Windows 8.1 as the OS.

My current system has a 500 MB system drive, 90% full, and a 320 GB second drive with media files which is 80% full. I make regular backups to a Synology DS410 NAS using Acronis True Image 2013. I would like to set up the new system with essential and most frequently used files on the SSD system drive and everything else (Documents, Downloads, libraries) on the conventional HDD.

Once the system migration is complete, I would like to wipe all personal data from the current computer and donate it to a local missionary. I have used DBAN in the past but this would necessitate reinstalling Windows from scratch. While I still have the original Windows 7 install disk and certificate from when I first built the system, I cannot locate a backup file for the (downloaded) Windows 8 upgrade. I do, however, still have my original Windows 8 activation codes if someone can point me to a good source for the upgrade files.

I'm not in a big hurry on this, but I'm hoping to get the new system together sometime next month. Does anyone have any recommendations that might simplify the migration to the new system and optimize the use of the new SSD system drive?

----Eric.
