I hope you can help me decide what to do concerning updating to Windows 8.1. I have a fairly new HP notebook came loaded with Windows 8, prof. 64 bit. HP Pavilion G7-2233cl. Bought at Walmart.
I ran the Windows 8.1 upgrade assistant. In the report there was one software that wasn't compatible. It is HP 3D DriveGuard, version 4.2.9.1 . Said an update is available. I don't know the procedure to do the upgrade and I don't know where to get the driver to HP 3D DriveGuard. Maybe I can just uninstall the DriveGuard? I understand it protects the notebook if it is dropped.
I have tried to find the answers I need, reading online. I have found where others have tried to upgrade to 8.1 and then found that the Drive Guard software quits working, without the updated driver.
I have not tried to upgrade to Windows 8.1, for fear that I will have big problems and not know what to do.
I want to be able to continue to get critical updates and read that if I don't upgrade to 8.1 in the next few weeks that I will not be able to get the updates.
Please point me in the right directions to be able to upgrade correctly. Should I just take the notebook to an expert?
Thank you for any help you can give to me. Becky
