I have a couple of very old external hard drives that use a firewire-USB cable. AFAIK, Windows 8 doesn't recognize firewire devices, I found a few posts about installing drivers and one Microsoft post suggest to install the Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode but I have no idea how to do that.
I downloaded a rar file from drivers.com: 'Windows 7 IEEE 1394 Driver With Legacy Option Available' but it has some inf, pnf and sys files but I'm lost. Can someone point me out to the solution in a very simple way? Thanks.
EDIT: BTW, my laptop won't ever detect something plugged, I tried with 2 cables.
