The thread at http://forums.techguy.org/windows-8/...urface-rt.html is closed without replies, so I can't post this there. I ran into similar issues on a Dell Venue Pro 8. I was trying to boot into safe mode. I was also confronted by the BitLocker error screen asking me for my recovery key. I also saw the "'you must enter your recovery key to access Startup Settings: to protect the privacy of your data, BitLocker has prevented the unlocking of your drive. You'll need to enter the recovery key." message and when I tried to enter my recovery key at the keyboard. nothing happened. I booted in normally and removed encryption. This time I got through the restart screen with the Safe Mode option, but again. the machine was totally unresponsive to any key I pressed. Then I realised the problem. I have a Bluetooth keyboard, and at this stage Bluetooth is switched off! No keyboard connected!! I solved my issues by borrowing a USB keyboard and plugging it into my tablet (on the Dell Venue Pro 8 you have to have a special connector to plug into the micro-USB port). Worked perfectly.
