Installing and creating disc help

Okay, I am in need of some help here.

I have an activation key purchased through the university. Here's what I'm trying to do. I would like to download Windows 8 to my laptop, create a boot disc or a flash drive, and then install it on a new computer that I just built. I'm extremely confused on how to do this and am in need of help.
