Win 7 32-bit files do not open in Win 8 64-bit laptop

I have a brand new HP 650 laptop with Windows 8 Single Language installed. The system uses 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor. I cannot open any file that was created in my old laptop which uses Windows 7 32-bit system, x86-based processor.

Please any solution?
