Let me layout my problems first
I bought my pc with windows 8 pre installed, and after a while upgraded some hardware for better performance. so of course I had to re activate windows. Which Microsoft tech support did for me through desktop access.
I then upgraded to windows 8.1 no problems, however a few weeks down the line I start getting security issue and pc low performance pop ups even if I just leave the pc on but not using it. After speaking to Microsoft tech support again and letting them run some checks, they find a virus and say they can sort it out for me if I pay £65.
Not going to happen especially so close to the holidays and spent a fortune already on presents etc.
So I try 3 or 4 different anti virus programs to find and remove it (as the one I was using didn't stop it) to no avail. So I think sod it completely remove and wipe everything and refresh back to the original OS install.
Now windows won't activate as the product key saved is for windows 8.1 not windows 8 and after 2 days of arguing with Microsoft and getting nowhere I don't what to do can some help me please?
