sony vaio black screen problem

Hi all.
Earlier tonight I was sat on my sony vaio laptop when the cat jumped up and ran over the keyboard. This managed to turn the screen black. I have tried to restart the computer butwhen I do the vaio logo appears but then the screen turns black. I connected it to my tv via hdmi and it does the same on the tv. Logo appears and then black.
Everywhere else I have read says they had a blinking cursor. I have no cursor. I'm wandering if the cat had pressed a shortcut or something. I have also tried to launch safe mode but to no avail.
