running windows 8 but device(camera) supports up to windows 7

Hello! My computer runs on windows 8 and i bought a camera what says that it supports operating system like XP, Vista and 7
So when i plugged in then nothing happened, nothing shown up in my computer. Any ideas how to connect my camera with my computer? Thanks
