Surface Pro 2 - "Can't connect to this network"

OMG please help me.
I just exchanged a Surface 2 for a Surface Pro 2 (because of Office limitations), and while the Surface 2 had no problem connecting to my wi-fi network, the Surface Pro 2 ALWAYS tells me "Can't connect to this Network".
I am at my wits end. Please someone help me figure this out!
I am 100% unable to connect wirelessly, and I really don't want to return two Surface tablets in 2 days (they already thought that I was clueless about the first return, even though I was right about Office!).

There must be some fix that I can try.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

EDITING:
Btw, I'm not dense or anything. I have tried every fix that I have been able to find. But unfortunately they mostly seem to involve updating firmware or using the command prompt. I can do neither because I have a brand new (straight out of the box) tablet and it can't update firmware or activate Windows (which is required for "admin" command prompt access) since I CAN'T access the internet! Grrrrrr!!!!!!!!
(hey, so did all that prove I'm not a dumb damsel in distress? Because seriously I'm just a geeky geek in distress. Please help if you can!)

PLEASE INDULGE ME ONE MORE EDIT TO MY POST (it's my first here, so I don't want to push my luck):
So anyway, if I have posted this in the wrong category, please feel free to move it where the right eyes will see it. THANKS!
(and yes, I'm impatient and relentless sometimes - like now, I guess - but please don't hold that against the solution I am asking for. I promise that I am calmer when I'm not stressed and frustrated)
